Plan making support packages

We’ve refreshed our range of plan making support materials and made them available for download or direct delivery by PAS.

We’ve delivered more than 200 pieces of plan making support to a restricted group of councils across England since 2006. As of September 2009, this support is available to all English planning authorities at subsidised rates.

Project management support for local development frameworks Last updated 5 January 2010

PAS is offering direct support to help local planning authorities effectively project manage the production of development plan documents. We offer a simple, tool-based approach that will make performance managing your DPD production process easier.
Sustainability appraisal support Last updated 26 November 2009

We are now offering direct support to councils on incorporating the sustainability appraisal into their development plan document production processes.
Options generation and appraisal support Last updated 23 October 2009

PAS has produced some guidance for local authorities on how to generate and appraise different options for their Development Plan Documents. We are also offering a workshop and follow-up support to help you work through the process.

PAS has developed support materials for councils on how to achieve and maintain an evidence base, an essential part of a successful plan. We also offer workshops and follow-up support.

This PAS support package helps local authorities and their partners develop a common spatial vision for their area. It looks at understanding purpose, identifying challenges, broadening ownership, local distinctiveness and delivery.

‘How to’ advice that enables local authorities to make sense of community engagement for their local development framework. The support materials make authorities better equipped to address the engagement challenges specific to their community.
Member training for the LDF Last updated 2 October 2009

This series of training modules for elected members helps them become more familiar with the Local Development Framework. Use it to inform members about the basic principles of spatial planning and increase their understanding of good plan making. The modules include the role of members, spatial vision, considering options, engagement and participation.
